Waste Disposal

Trash pick-up is on Thursday mornings.

If you have studio or personal trash to be removed, please be sure to place it in the bins on the driveway side of the house by Wednesday night.

Compost (metal bin in freezer)
all food scraps, bones, egg shells, coffee grounds, tea leaves, food stained paper

If the compost bin fills up, the bag can be taken out to one of the Yard Waste bins on the driveway side of the house.

Replacement bags are under the sink.

Recycling (blue bin in kitchen)
glass, unsoiled cardboard/paper, aluminum/tin, and plastics 1 & 2*

Clean all materials thoroughly before placing them in the recycling bin to avoid contamination & increase likelihood of materials being recycled.

*Pasadena’s municipal facility only recycles plastics 1 & 2. Unfortunately, plastics 3-7 and unmarked plastics go to landfill.

Landfill
to-go coffee cups, Tetra Pak cartons, receipts, plastics 3-7, and unmarked plastics

Replacement bags are under the sink.

Living & Working
Outdoors

Consider the outdoors as an extension of the studio and living space! Embrace the generally pleasant California weather!

The wifi extends to most parts of the yard. There are 2 outlets under the covered porch and 2 more next to the porch stairs.

A remote control, located on the bar inside, turns on/off the bistro lights.

Mosquitos can be quite pesky in the warmer months. We have mosquito repellent on the cabinet opposite the laundry machines.

Feel free to use the gas grill for BBQing.

You’re welcome to use the fire pit. Fire wood can be found behind the shed. Beware of black or brown widow spiders when retrieving fire wood. These are common here in California!

Two gas heat lamps are available for chilly evenings, and they’re a great source of light when it’s dark out.

Smoking is permitted outdoors only. Cannabis is legal for recreational use in California. Help yourself to bud on the bar, or there are dispensaries nearby.

Help yourself to the herbs, edible flowers, and ripe fruit growing around the property. If you’re not absolutely sure if it’s edible, don’t eat it! Always do your research first!

Gardeners come on Tuesdays.

Creature Comforts

AC/Heat

The thermostat is set on an Eco setting to conserve energy. You can adjust airflow in your room by toggling the lever on the floor vent by your door. There are extra blankets if you’re chilly or a fan if you get warm. The window in your room can also be opened to let in the outside air.

Extra Blankets/Fan
Let Sarah know if you need this and can’t find it.

Kitchen & Laundry

TRP stocks the pantry and fridge with lots of basics, spices, and condiments. You’re welcome to use anything that’s not marked with someone’s name. You can also do your own grocery shopping to purchase items that you don’t see in the kitchen. Take up whatever pantry/fridge/counter space you need. When it comes to food items, the general rule is: If it’s not marked with someone’s name, it’s available for anyone to use. Use a Sharpie to mark personal items that you’d prefer not to share, or you can keep shelf-stable items in your room.

The kitchen & laundry are fully self-service. Residents make and clean up after their own meals. Everyone does their own dishes. There is solid dish soap in the mug on the counter, and replacement dish soap bars are under the sink. Dishwasher pods are also under the sink.

Laundry pods are on the shelf opposite the machines, and wool dryer balls are inside the dryer.
